My Father Goes To Heaven
About photo series: “My Father Goes To Heaven”
This series of photos were taken on 14th day of spring 2006. My mother called me in Tehran, that your father passed away on 13th (which in Nowrooz Celebrities we call it “13 be dar” and everybody goes for picnic and happiness) in his hometown Esfahan. She had kept the body in the house for his only son to say goodbye to him.
I just took my camera bag and drove to Esfahan, all night long. In all of 275 miles long, I was thinking I did not take photos from my father enough to keep his memorial and decided to take picture from the first moment of confront his body till the moment of burying.
I did so and these photos are the result. I feel these photos have very deep cultural meanings in addition to their affection on my personal feeling.
I got these pictures with an old Robot Star 50 camera with 40mm, f1.9 Schneider lens and Ilford HP5 Plus B&W negative film push to ISO 3200 with T-max Developer. Then the negatives scanned and digitized to Tiff format.
